Oregon Wine – Cleveland Likes It

In today’s Cleveland Plain Dealer, an article on wines to go with Thanksgiving includes two Oregon wines, out of about ten total. I bet this has something to do with Oregon Pinot Camp. What a good thing it has been for Oregon wine.

Oregon Pinot Camp brings wine writers and wine buyers to Oregon for four days of concentrated exposure to the wineries and vineyards of Oregon each summer. The hope is, they will go back to their homes, (such as Cleveland), and start buying Oregon wine.

panther-creek-label-200pI’m not sure that this particular article is written by someone who has been to Pinot Camp, but it’s the kind of article that we need more of across the country.

The two wines they suggested are the Lemelson Riesling 07 $20.95/18.86: “”It’s Alsatian style, crisp, with great acidity, beautiful nose, really nice fruit, a perfumy nose and really dry to the taste.”

And the Panther Creek  Winemaker Cuvee 07 $26.95/$24.25: “”It has nice black cherry fruit, a hint of spice box, a bit of earthiness. I love doing American reds with turkey dinner.”
