In a world of tough choices, this one is easy. J. Scott makes it so with a winning combination of black cherry, smoke, and sweet earth in an easy-drinking Pinot. Down the hatch!
- Marcus
"This fruit forward wine exhibits bright red fruit flavors of red cherry, raspberry and strawberry. With just a hint of oak, it offers many layers of flavor that transition into an elegant lingering finish. This wine pairs wonderfully with roasted fowl, pork tenderloin and wild mushroom pasta." - Jonathan Oberlander, winemaker
J. Scott
Pinot Blanc 08 $13.95

This begs the question: why is there not more Pinot blanc planted in Oregon? Rich on one hand, bright and citrusy on the other. A knockout white, humbly priced.
- Marcus
"This wine is produced from grapes grown by the renowned viticulturist Dr. Mark Kiewer. The wine displays beautiful pineapple and mineral aromas that persist through the long full finish. This wine is a perfect accompaniment to salmon, crab and oysters." - Jonathan Oberlander, winemaker
Bethel Heights
Estate Pinot noir 08 $29.94
$26.50
any 12 bottles
See all Bethel Heights Wines
The Estate 08 is rich and powerful, scented with blackberries and a hint of forest floor and mint. Sweet spices add a savory note to the big blackberry, black currant, and black cherry flavors. Silky and full-bodied, perfectly balanced tannins make this a wine to enjoy now or cellar for 3-5 years.
A true pioneer of Oregon wine, the Casteels are now joined by their kids as a second generation carries on the winery's tradition of making beautiful wines.
Bethel Heights
Flat Block Pinot noir 08 $49.75
$44.77
any 12 bottles
See all Bethel Heights Wines
A true heavy hitter from one of Oregon's original wineries. Flat Block 08 has power and concentration, depth and balance. There's a tongue-melting thread of black raspberry that weaves through light toast, black berries and cherries, and the melange of earth and spice that typifies the best Pinots from the Eola-Amity Hills. If I had made this Pinot, I'd be jumping up and down telling everyone about it! - Marcus
Aubichon
Pinot noir 08 $34.95
$31.46
any 12 bottles
See all Le Cadeau
& Aubichon Wines
Dark and savory from start to finish, Aubichon 08 shows the black side of cherries and raspberries. A deft kiss of oak, juicy acidity and the 2008 vintage's subtle grip accentuate the almost lavish fruit, finding everything in its place. Highly recommended and a selection for our Oregon Reserve Pinot Noir Wine Club.
- Marcus
About 350 cases are made by this off-shoot of Le Cadeau.
Aubichon is a partnership that grew from Le Cadeau Winery. Winemaker Jim Sanders, who made our favorite 2007 Le Cadeau Pinot - Equinoxe - partners with the Mortimers (Le Cadeau). Sanders learned his winemaking from Mike Etzel at Beaux Freres.
Evesham Wood
Bruno Pinot noir 09 $17.95
$16.16
any 12 bottles
See all Evesham Wood Wines
Bruno Pinot noir 09 is made by Evesham Wood, one of our favorite Oregon wineries. It's made for Evesham's Oregon distributor and isn't sold outside of the state.
The 2009 Bruno is up to Russ's usual high standards, with flavors that are very appealing - the '09 is perfumed, juicy, and ready to drink. It is packed with strawberries and raspberries, with cola spice and earth accents adding character.
Remy
Lagrein 07 $44.95
$40.46
any 12 bottles
See all Remy Wines
Remy's 2007 Lagrein shows off the beauty of this unique Italian grape. It's a wine that is both complex and crowd pleasing. The Lagrein is spicy and succulent, with the dark, exotic quality unique to the Lagrein grape. The Lagrein calls for robust cuisine. It's a wine to serve with venison, rosemary rubbed prime beef tenderloin, or smoked meats.
Remy makes about 60 cases of Lagrein, a traditional Italian varietal, from the one acre of grapes in Oregon, at Illahe Vineyard in the South Willamette Valley.
The 2007 Lagrein is an Avalon Wine Club Selection.
J. Albin
Brut Rose Laurel Vineyard 07 $31.95
$28.75
any 12 bottles
See all J. Albin Wines
J Albin's Brut Rose 07 is a classic sparkling wine, made in the traditional "Methode Champenoise." The grapes all come from the family's estate vineyard and less than 200 cases were made. For sheer tastiness and value, this bubbly is at the top of our list.
The scent is a classic blend of fresh strawberry, kirsch, and jasmine. Flavors are delicate, yet rich and creamy. The fruit is from 100% old vine Pinot noir. It's intensely refreshing and made for summer. This sparkler, on a hot summer day after mowing the lawn, beats any beer I know.
In 1981, when the Oregon wine industry was tiny and little known, the Albin family planted their Laurel Vineyard. Almost thirty years later, their wines show the qualities of complexity and depth that can only be acquired by time.
