High Pass Winery
|
Winemaker
Dieter Boehm has grown grapes for ten years outside of Bellefountain, Oregon,
in the Willamette Valley. He's now bottling his grapes and produces some
great wines at real reasonable prices.
High Pass Winery was established in 1995. The first grapevines were planted on the winery site in 1985. The focus of the winery is to produce wines from grapes grown in the vicinity of the winery, an area in the South Willamette Valley, west of Junction City, Oregon. The foothills of the coast range are covered with Bellpine soil, a clay loamproving to be an ideal host to the Pinot family of noble grapevines. In combination with the micro climate of the area, these varietals produce fruit that transforms into distinct wines. The fruit used for High Pass Wine comes from High Pass Vineyard, Walnut Ridge Vineyard, and Priddy Vineyard. All are managed by Dieter Boehm, who is also the winemaker for High Pass. The varieties produced include Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. Occasionally a late harvest dessert wine is produced from the Gewurztraminer, Huxelrebe or Scheurebe grape. All wines produced qualify as Estate Grown.
