Greetings
Avalon Wine Club members!
We hope your summer
has been relaxing and filled with excellent
wine. While we
would have liked to send your summer wine club
selections before now, it’s been too
hot to ship wine around much of the country. So,
we’re cellaring your delicious, hard-to-get
wines until the weather is cool enough to ship
safely.
Oh, there are
wonderful wines in store for you. If you’re
a member of our Oregon
Reserve Pinot Noir Club, you’ll
receive the rare 2004 Brickhouse Les Dijonnais
and 2004 Black Cap for July (and our wonderful
Wadenswil Clone Pinot noir feature from June,
if it was too hot to send to your area earlier). These
are highly collectible wines that will benefit
from some time in the cellar. In the
fall we’ll be sending stellar wines from
Dusky Goose, St. Innocent, Hamacher, Sineann,
and more!
For our Northwest Big Reds Club fans,
July promises a Walla Walla rising star, Va
Piano. We featured two of Va Piano’s
wines, the 2004 Syrah and 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon. As
an extra treat, we included one of favorite
values from Andrew Rich, his 2003 Cabernet
Franc. June featured three wonderful “Ms”:
Merlot Reserve from Mystic, Mourvedre from
McCrea, and Malbec from Tyrus Evan. In
the fall we’ll be sending Big Reds from
Mark Ryan, O-S, Betz, Owen Roe, and more!
The Oregon New Discoveries Club is
always exciting for us, as there are so many
up-and-coming wineries with worthy offerings. Our
June and July selections feature four absolute
gems, the 2004 St. Innocent Temperance Hill
Pinot noir and 2004 Klee Pinot noir (made by
Roots wine maker Chris Berg), 2005 Capitello
Pinot Gris, and 2004 Brandborg Bench Lands
Pinot noir. You can look forward to more
New Discoveries from Belle Vallee, Mystic,
720 Cellars and more!
We’re getting thirsty just writing about
these wines! You can read much more about
the wines and wine makers in the July
Wine Club Newsletter.
Each month, we
love to seek out and find the very best Oregon
and Washington wines to share with you. Please remember, we are always
available by phone, e-mail, or in person to
offer recommendations on wines and wine touring,
or to set up personal tastings. If we
can ever be of service, you can reach Marcus
at 541-752-7418 or marcus@avalonwine.com and
Jean at jean@avalonwine.com.
Thank you for being a member of our wine club!
All the best,
Jean & Marcus
P.S. – Jean here – rather than
attaching a PDF of the July newsletter, which
so many email programs remove, we’ve
created a new section of Avalon’s website
just for Avalon Wine Club members.
If you go here:
http://www.avalonwine.com/wineclubs_Members-Page.php
You’ll find
a soon to be password protected section of
the site.
Username is: Avalon
Password is: wine
All of the Club
newsletters for the last three years are
posted as PDFs, and all of our email notices
as well. In the future, we’ll
post periodic announcements, letters to the
club, and pre-release announcements of wines
that are so limited, we are only able to
offer them to Wine Club members.
I’m looking forward to sending you some
wonderful wines this fall and winter, and am
always interested in your likes and preferences.
Please let me know what you’d like to
see in the newsletters and on your website,
and I’ll try to comply.
Happy end of summer!
