Superlatives
for
Adelsheim Pinot noir
Willamette Valley
05
If
Adelsheim Vineyard has offered
a better
such bottling
in its 35 years of existence,
I cannot recall it."

Wine Spectator's
Matt Kramer recently wrote of the Adelsheim
Pinot noir 05:
"This is
lovely Oregon pinot noir: intense, redolent
of wild cherries and raspberries and silken
in texture. Everything has come together seamlessly:
a classically cool Oregon vintage in 2005 that
delivered pure fruit flavors and refreshing
natural acidity; hands-off, purist winemaking;
obviously superb raw material.

of existence, I cannot recall it." - The Oregonian,

We agree with
Matt Kramer-
Oregon's Willamette Valley Pinots,
many under $30,
are the best they have ever
been.
Here are three
others we highly recommend:
Daedalus Pinot
noir Willamette Valley 04 $22.45/$24.95
BEST BUY - Outstanding quality at this price, scents
of sandalwood, red raspberry, red and black cherry,
and warm pie spice. Flavors are hugely expressive red
raspberry and cherry, black cherry, blackberry, black
currant, and hints of white pepper. The wine gives
the sense of opening and expanding in the mouth as
it warms. A beautiful racy acidity and very finegrained
tannins balanced the layers and layers of fruit flavors.
Not much made, restaurants are going to snap this one
up quickly. -jy

Quercus Harmonia
Pinot noir 05 $19.57/$21.75
Expressive aromas of berry fruit, roses and sandalwood.
The 2005 Harmonia has a juicy, lush mouthfeel with
red berry and pie cherry that gives way to hints of
milk chocolate and creamy berry. The finish is spicy
and long. -ml

720 Cellars Pinot
noir 04 $18.86/$20.95
The nose is filled with roses, red cherry and raspberry,
pomegranate and subtle cola spice. As one of us put
it, “this wine doesn’t flirt,” meaning
those aromas follow through to the flavors. We love
the creaminess in the finish—it’s just
like biting into crème brulee with a touch of
cardamom. The 720 is an outstanding food wine; match
with any of your lighter summer and fall favorites,
from grilled fish to pasta salad.
