Greetings
Avalon Wine Club members!
It's Too Hot to Ship Wine!
Wine heats up in
the bottle and oozes out around the edges
of the cork,
pushing the cork up, and
sometimes,
even out of the bottle.
We cellar
your wine at no charge.
Your wine club shipments will arrive in
September or October,
depending on the weather in your area. |
 |
We hope your
summer has been relaxing and filled with excellent
wine. While we would have liked to send your
summer wine club selections before now, it’s
been too hot to ship wine around much of the
country. So, we’re cellaring your delicious,
hard-to-get wines until the weather is cool
enough to ship safely.
There are wonderful
wines in store for you this fall.
If you’re
a member of our Oregon
Reserve Pinot Noir Club,
you’ll
receive the blockbuster 2005
Soter Beacon Hill and the rare 2005
Black Cap for July (and the
wonderful 2005 Coeur
de Terre Renelle’s
Block and 2004
Belle Pente Estate Reserve from
June, if it was too hot to send to your area
earlier). These are highly collectible wines
that will benefit from some time in the cellar,
if you can wait. We’ve enjoyed bottles
of these Pinots recently, so you don’t
have to wait!
For our Northwest
Big Reds Club fans, July promises a new release
from Walla Walla rising star, Va Piano. We
featured the Va Piano
Syrah from the soon-to-be-fabled
2005 vintage. We also selected another magical
wine from Trey Busch’s new Sleight
of Hand, The Archimage 2005. Both will be delectable
by the time you receive them.
The Oregon
New Discoveries Club is always exciting
for us, as there are so many up-and-coming
wineries with worthy offerings. Our July selections
feature two gems: the Boedecker
Cellars Pinot noir 04 "Athena" and the 2006
Bruno Chardonnay, made by Oregon cult favorite Cameron.
We’re getting
thirsty just writing about these wines! You
can read much more about the wines and wine
makers in the July Wine Club Newsletter.
Each month, we love to seek out and find the
very best Oregon and Washington wines to share
with you. Please remember, we are always available
by phone, e-mail, or in person to offer recommendations
on wines and wine touring, or to set up personal
tastings.
If we can ever
be of service, you can reach Marcus at 541-752-7418
or marcus@avalonwine.com and Jean at jean@avalonwine.com.
Thank you for being a member of our wine club!
All the best,
Jean & Marcus
