Evesham
Wood Pinot for $16.95
Cameron Chardonnay
06 $13.95
Great Value House Wine for YOUR House
Evesham Wood has
a cult following - Russ Raney's Pinots are
released and sell out instantly. Cameron is
just the same. John Paul's wines disappear
in a flash, sold entirely to locals who grab
them all. Hey
you wine
collectors trying to get some Evesham or Cameron
wine - here's your chance, at a bargain price.
Evesham Wood made a
2006 Pinot noir and Cameron made a 2006 Chardonnay
for a small distributor in Oregon under the
label "Bruno".
The wines were made for restaurants in Oregon
to use as a house pour. Very few
wine stores will get this wine, and they
are only being sold in Oregon.
Make these rare
Evesham and Cameron bargains your "House
Wines" this
summer -- your friends will be impressed!
Bruno Pinot noir 06
Made by Evesham
Wood
$16.95/$15.25
What a nice deal this wine is. The nose is
all about bright red cherry fruit, and the
flavors follow up with more sweet red cherry
and red raspberry flavors. There's a hint of
pie spice, a hint of smoke, and just a lot
of quite pleasant, easy drinking, sappy red
fruit flavors. The finish is long and the tannins
are silky and unobtrusive.
Unapologetically unfiltered. The wine
is sourced from several vineyards in the Salem,
Oregon area, near to Evesham Wood’s winery.
Russ
makes a lighter style, more classically Burgundian
wine than some, and this is not a big black
cherry fruit bomb. However, for summer sipping,
when an approachable red with a bit less black
fruit intensity and lots of refreshing flavors
is appealing, this is a great deal.
One of the first 2006 Pinot
noirs released, this little wine shows what
those in the know are whispering around the
Willamette Valley- 2006 is going to be a super
star vintage.
Bruno
Chardonnay 06
Made
by Cameron Winery
$13.95/$12.55
Cameron is, like Evesham Wood,
a winery that's been around Oregon for years.
Locals like to say we save the best for ourselves,
and Cameron's wines are, indeed sold mostly
in Oregon, to a list of dedicated Cameron-philes.
John Paul is known for his classic white wines
(His reserve Chardonnay sells for almost $50
and flies out the door).
Bright pear and apple flavors
emanate from this fantastic example of Northwest
Chardonnay. Done
entirely in stainless steel, you get the pure
expression of the Chardonnay grape, with bright
acidity and good minerality. This is
the perfect white wine for summer gatherings—it’s
versatile, food friendly, and affordable. Sourced
from a vineyard in the Columbia Gorge, on the
Washington side, near the White Salmon River.
