One of the few good things about growing older is the abillity to take the long view. I've worked with Oregon wine for 23 years, and I've seen a lot of wineries, met a lot of winemakers. The winemakers I find most fascinating, whose wines remain in my memory the longest, are those rare individuals for whom winemaking is a lifelong process - they take the long view.
Finding their wines is a challenge. The process is their joy, not the sales. And the beauty of their work is not necessarily any one bottle, but the path they take, and the stops along the way. Vintage after vintage, there's something to say, something different - a subtle variation, a radical change in direction.
David Autrey and Amy Wesselman, owners, vineyard managers, and winemakers of Westrey Wines, are such people. I've tasted their wines since 1996. David and Amy's 2007 Oracle and Justice Vineyard Pinots will linger in my mind for a very long time.

Nicholas Cole Camille 04
$44.95/$40.46
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
rating 92 points: "The 2004 Camille is a blend of 64% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Franc, and 13% Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose offers up toasty oak, some pleasant herbaceousness from the Cabernet Franc, as well as red and black currants and a hint of leather. On the palate there is excellent depth and concentration, broad spicy flavors, and a long, pure finish. The ripe tannins are nicely integrated and should allow for 5-7 years of further development. This classy effort should drink well through 2040."
The 2004 Nicholas Cole Camille oozes with decadence. This wine, with layer upon layer of balanced fruit and spicy oak blended with aromas of dark chocolate, fresh ground espresso and a hint of sweet pipe tobacco, will entice your senses. Intense, dark color, with a complex structure embracing velvety tannins leads to a long caressing finish. One of our most sophisticated wines to date, your palate will desire more of this silky, sensuous Bordeaux style wine. cellar through 2020 plus.

Fall Line Cabernet Sauvignon 06
$30.95/$27.86
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 92 Points:
"The nose offers up notes of vanilla bean, coconut, black currants, and blackberry liqueur. Layered and ripe, bordering on opulent, it nicely conceals enough tannin to carry the wine through another 4-5 years of evolution. This concentrated, lengthy effort should attain its peak by 2013 and remain at that level through 2026."
Fall Line Cabernet 06 is the best new mid-priced Cabernet from Washington. Pure cassis aromas and flavors, mixing with black berries, plums, black cherries, and baking spices. A lingering sweetness on the finish is accented by subtle sage leaf and integrated tannins. The Fall Line 06 is versatile as a sipper or with any hearty meal--it has perfect balance and refinement, but plenty of gushing, yummy fruit. An Avalon Big Reds Club selection and highly recommended.
O'Shea Scarborough
Proprietor's Cabernet Sauvignon 06
$41.95/$37.76
O'Shea Scarborough Proprietor's Cabernet Sauvignon 06 has a huge core of cassis that's both vibrant and silky. A "slide-into-home" finish shows an elegant structure, while big fruit, dark cocoa, and desert herbs power on. The 06 Proprietor's Cab walks the line between classy and muscular. Made from the fruit of several vineyards (in contrast to their single vineyard "Stand Alone" Cab).
