$20 Washington Zinfandels
WATCH OUT CALIFORNIA
Washington wines are on fire. No one is making wines as good and as well priced. You've tasted the proof in Washington Cabs, Merlots, and Syrahs. Add Washington Zinfandel to your list.
Three Angels Zinfandel 07
Walla Walla - Les Collines Vineyard
$19.95/$17.95
Super Small Production - Super Large Wine
Three Angels Walla Walla Zinfandel is deep black cherry velvet with hints of leather, coffee, and anise. Decadent. The winemaker calls it "large-scale" - we call it Extra-Large-Scale. We love this wine - and the price makes it one of the best deals we've found.
Pair the Three Angels Walla Walla Zin with grilled rib-eye, rosemary lamb kabobs, and game meats. Awarded a Silver Medal at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. Only 188 cases were made.
Three Angels Zinfandel 07
Columbia Valley - Avery Vineyard
$19.95/$17.95
Like Dry Creek - Half the Price
Three Angels Columbia Valley Zinfandel 07 Avery Vineyard is a "Wow". Lush scents of plum and black cherry introduce big, rich cherry, plum, berry, bramble, white pepper, and mixed sweet spice flavors. Compares quite well to $40 Zinfandels, and it's balanced - it has structure as well as over-the-top Zinfandel style. Very reminiscent of a Dry Creek Zinfandel, at half the price.
Serve this Zinfandel with rubbed pork loin, braised ribs, and spicy pizza. Drink now through 2011.
Awarded a Gold Medal at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.
Only 188 cases produced.
Three Angels Primitivo 07
Coyote Canyon Vineyard
$19.95/$17.95
Cherry, strawberry and rhubarb scents mingle as the Three Angels Primitivo Coyote Canyon Vineyard 07 is poured. Flavors of fresh cherries and earth finish with concentrated plum and dark fruit notes. Pair with bold dishes made with tomatoes, black olives and capers. Drink now through 2011.
Primitivo is a genetic equivalent to Zinfandel, but it is quite different in taste. The Three Angels 2007 Primitivo reminds us of the pure flavors and character exhibited by the Primitivo based wines produced from Puglia (Italy's heel) with less rustic elements.
Awarded a Silver medal at the Dallas Morning News Wine Competition.
Only 83 cases produced.
