Oregon 2008 Vintage Rosé
Thomas's 2008 Acme Wineworks Rose $12.95
More 2008 Roses from Antica Terra, Evesham Wood, Soter
A sidewalk cafe, an umbrella under a hot summer sun, and a glass of refreshing Oregon Rosé. Summer's best way to relax.
Oregon Pinot noir makers have produced "pink wine" from Pinot noir for years for their own consumption. Many Pinot makers' preferred summer wine, served cold, is a dry Oregon Rosé, often their own.
Oregon Rosé offers fresh fruit flavors of strawberries, cherries, and raspberries, with hints of ruby red grapefruit, watermelon, and spice flavors like thyme, cinnamon or ginger. A good Rosé will have a nice acid balance with delicate fruit flavors. The clean, fresh flavors are followed by a crisp mouth feel.
They go fast. Carpe diem. Grab them while you can.

Acme Wineworks
Rosé of Pinot noir Willamette Valley 07
$12.95/$11.65
The Thomas Acme Wineworks Rosé NV is my must-have summer wine. I'm thinking of long summer evenings on the front porch, watching the sunset over the mountains, the scent of evening blooming honeysuckle, and best of all, the Thomas Acme Rosé sliding down my gullet.
The scent is strawberry, raspberry, and melon. Flavors are sweet red raspberry, wild strawberry, a hint of creamy kiwi, and a long finish with more berries and a hint of just-right citrus.
We get emails and calls all year long for Thomas Winery wines. John "JT" Thomas's small vineyard produces a few hundred cases of Pinot noir a year, allocated among a lucky few. Every few years, JT makes a Rosé. It is usually completely sold out before we hear about it. This year, he stopped by and - yes! - there's still some available.

Antica Terra
Rosé of Pinot noir 08
$34.95/$31.46
A Rosé like no other, Maggie Harrison's years at cult winery Sine Qua Non show in the magic of the 2008 Antica Terra. Start with the given - that she grew grapes especially for this wine, and that she made it to be her best possible Rosé, "whatever it takes." Add fermenting on the skins, aging in oak, and you get a dark, richly textured Rosé with the complexity of a fine Pinot noir.
The delicious scent of fresh strawberries and cream have me drooling with anticipation. From the first taste, this Rosé captures and demands attention. Fresh strawberry and raspberry fruit mingle with a hint of roses and cherries. The wine seems to expand in the mouth, emphasizing the texture - shot silk on the upper palate, and rich velvet with a swallow. In the long, uplifting, bright finish, there's a hint of minerals and more sweet cream. Wow - a real one of a kind - unforgettable. - Avalon
"Moderately deep reddish-orange color. Lovely aromas of fresh strawberries, blood oranges and a touch of white peach and herbs. A substantial Rosé that is mouth-filling on the attack struting flavors of fresh berries, orange peel and savory herbs with some persistence on the bright finish. Careful not to over-chill so as to retain the enjoyment. This is a stunning wine that even a Pinot Noir purist like myself would be proud to take to any classy restaurant. This wine should put to rest any stigma that has been attached to Rosé." - Rusty Gaffney, PrinceofPinot.com

Soter Vineyards
Rosé of Pinot noir North Valley 08
$19.95/$17.95
"As we like to say, this is Rosé by design and not default; we pressed this specifically with the intention of making a lovely pink wine. Full of fresh floral and bright red fruit aromas, our Rosé of Pinot Noir is weighty and juicy, perfect for a summer afternoon garden party. Enjoy it with Provencal fare, such as game hens grilled with herbes de Provence and brushed with olive oil and fresh garlic." - the winery

Soter Vineyards
Brut Rosé 04
$49.95/$44.95
The very limited Soter Brut Rosé 04 is a memorable, handmade sparkling wine. With a beautiful pale pink color in the glass and a wonderfully fine bead, the wine has a spicy, blossom-laden complexity on the nose. Honey, suggestions of ginger, vanilla, and crème brulee overlay subtler notes of ripe cranberries and strawberries. Pair it with a main course. Dishes like paillards of chicken in chanterelle cream come to mind, or perhaps pair it with something as exotic as lobster and Rosé petal agnolotti. Soter bubblies have won a justly deserved cult following.

Evesham Wood
Vin d'Une Nuit - Tempranillo Rosé 08
$12.75/$11.47
This is the second vintage in which we’ve produced our small quantity of rosé from the tempranillo grape. The fruit is sourced from two small vineyards in the mid-Willamette Valley. The 2008 vintage yielded sufficiently ripe grapes with excellent fruit acid. The resulting wine resembles a nice Spanish or Southern French rosé, with its melon and floral-scented fruit, crisp texture and light salmon color.
Immediate room-filling aromas of grapefruit, tangerine and rose petal, followed by crisp fruit flavors and a pleasing, palate-cleansing acidity. Great on its own as a chilled, summer afternoon quaff, and a wonderful food companion. So refreshing and delicious with barbequed chicken straight off the grill. - Avalon
Irresistible, vinous aromas of fresh strawberry and Roséwater with the slightest hint of grapefruit. Crisp and delightful on the palate with summer fruit flavors and a refreshing acidity. Great with a wide variety of foods or simply refreshing on its own. - the winery

Belle Pente
Cuvee Contraire Rosé 07
$17.95/$16.19
Just a scrumptious dry pink wine with tons of fresh strawberry scent and flavor, and crisp acidity that is so very refreshing on a hot day. Ultimate summer picnic wine. A blend of Gamay noir and Pinot noir.
