A diminutive dynamo, five feet of electric energy on wheels, Patty Green is an Oregon wine phenomenon. Since 2000, Patty's followers snap up her wines based exclusively on word-of-mouth. Her best Pinots, the "Notorious" and "Goldschmidt Vineyard" are joined here by six of our favorite Patty Green wines. Distinctive and memorable, all are exceptionally big and full bodied in the distinctive Patty Green "House Style".
And for the first time in years, Patty made her hoot of a value Pinot, Dollar Bills Only 07 $13.95/$12.55! Her gift to her local customers, it's only sold in the nieghborhood, or from us online.

Locals Will Snap This Up in a Week
Patty and Jim were sitting at Lumpy's Tavern in Dundee (a famous winemaker hangout) one night having beer and burgers, talking about their new value-priced Pinot. At a loss for a name, staring at the jukebox across from them, they noticed a sign: "Dollar Bills Only." "There's the name!" they chortled, and Dollar Bills Only Pinot noir was born. The label photo shows the famous jukebox.
Dollar Bills Only is Patricia Green Cellars' "great buy" wine - a steal - great fruit flavors, dark color, super "house wine" for your house! Only sold in the Willamette Valley or order it from us.

Goldschmidt Vineyard Pinot noir 07
(Winderlea Vineyard)
$49.95/$44.95
Highly Recommended
Goldschmidt is one of the great older-vine vineyards remaining in the Dundee Hills and this wine is made from grapes planted in 1974 and 1975. This is Patty's densest, ripest and most sultry wine.
Lavish, dark fruit flavors dominate with notes of cloves and spice and heavy tannins. The heavy, creamy fruit lingers beneath a veneer of tannins andwhat Patty calls "crazy" aromatics. Goldschmidt Vineyard changed its name to Winderlea Vineyard in 2007.

Reserve Pinot noir 07
$24.95/$22.45
Excellent Value
The Reserve is an excellent example of Patty's "House Style" - brightly fruited with great gobs of cherries and raspberries in the fore-palate. There is lots of sweetness in the mid-palate and just enough structure toward the back to pull it together and give it length.
Patricia Green Cellars
"Notorious" Pinot noir 07
$69.95/$62.95
Patty's "best of the vintage" Pinot noir, this is the wine she's Notorious for.
Patty says this is a "textural experience beyond any of our other wines." The richness of the wine, the lavish fruit, the spice and tannin from the barrels and the rigorous selection of the absolute best stuff result in a wine that is exotic, nuanced, layered, pleasurable and nearly hedonistic in its youth. This wine is especially age-worthy and will still be a vibrant, primary wine for many, many years in the cellar.

Balcombe Vineyard Pinot noir 07
$35.45/$31.91
Balcombe Pinots are always incredibly intense, lush, sexy wines that have piles of fruit, good structure and, amazingly, almost perfect balance.
Mixed in with the round, sleek texture are red fruits, herbs, baking spice and a little of that Dundee Hills brown sugar quality. While feminine and demure there is a sneaky exotic side to this wine that gives it dimension beyond being simply fruity and textured.

Old Vine Estate Pinot noir 07
$39.95/$35.96
Made from the oldest part of Patty's Estate Vineyard, just across the fence from Beaux Freres' vineyard.
A red core of sweet fruit and spice leads to subtle, darker fruit notes and some refined toastiness from the barrels. This wine is simply amazingly plush with tannins that glide off the back of the tongue creating depth, complexity and tremendous length. The fruit is quite refined, the palate is deft and the minerality is palpable.

Whistling Ridge Vineyard Pinot noir 07
$39.95/$35.96
Jean's Favorite of Patty's 2007's
The vineyard is located directly above Beaux Freres' vineyard and produces a big, full bodied Pinot. It's one of the PGC wines that improves with cellaring time, adding wild, dark flavors and sensations to the mix.
A river of red and black raspberry fruit glides over the top of the firm structure of this wine, pulling it together in the mid-palate before giving way to the minerally backend. Intense, wild and unique, this is a special and fun wine that will provide lovers of more structured and dark-hearted Pinots years and years of pleasure.
Patricia Green Cellars
Croft Vineyard Pinot noir 07
$29.95/$26.95
This deeply purple wine has a tremendous amount of stuffing that makes it boisterously appealing for the short term but the pure intensity is checked by great natural acidity. The Pommard clone makes up 55% of the wine and brings an intense boysenberry and highly unique pomegranate juicy fruit flavor. Pommard also gives the wine loads of fruit and a full mid-palate. The Wadensvil (45%) provides a backbone of tannin and acidity that adds dimension, class and complexity to the explosive fruit profile.

There's endless Patty stories around. This gal is newsworthy, in a crazy electric ball of fire kind of way.
This happened about six months ago:
So Jackie Etzel (Beaux Freres) lost Kazar, her really cool Egyptian Mau cat. After three days, she found him up a tree, at the top of Patty's and Beaux Freres' vineyard (they are next to each other). So Jackie goes over and tells Patty and is really upset that the cat might get eaten by a coyote or a bobcat (very likely to happen). Patty says: "let's go get it!" and they go up to see if they can get the cat out of the tree.
So Patty climbs the very very tall fir tree to get the cat. Very very tall - she climbs about 50 feet up. See, Patty used to climb trees for a living - for years, she planted trees and harvested pine cones from high up the trees. So it's not like she'd never climbed a tree. Just not in 20 years.
So what happens next? Patty climbs up 50 feet and grabs the dang cat and sort of slings it into her sweatshirt. Meanwhile, Jackie is trying to help - and Jackie climbs halfway up. Jackie had never been up a tree. And they pass the cat back and forth between them as they climb down. Finally, Kazar gets into Jackie's arms, Patty sort of gets down successfully and goes back to making wine. Typical day for Patty.
Next time- Patty goes to the pipefitting convention.....
