Dubrul Cab 06, Lady Rosa Syrah 07, Yakima Red 06, Sharecropper's Cab 07

Three of Owen Roe's highest rated wines, the Owen Roe Dubrul Cabernet Sauvignon 06, the Yakima Red 06, and the Lady Rosa Syrah 07, are now available. Also released is the great value Sharecropper's Cabernet Sauvignon 07. Sharecropper's is a value label from Owen Roe - some of the Northwest's best quality and value are made under the "Sharecropper" label.

It's last call for several Owen Roe favorites - the last Walla Walla Cabernet Sauvignon is almost gone, as is the Slide Mountain Cabernet Franc 06. The Yakima Red 06 was made in miniscule amounts and the winery anticipates running out by the end of the month.

Dubrul Cabernet Sauvignon 06

Washington State's Dubrul Vineyard, rehabilitated and made famous by David O'Reilly of Owen Roe, is the source for this distinguished wine. Owen Roe's Dubrul Vineyard wines are the winery's most precious, powerful, intense, and age well into the next decade. The Owen Roe Dubrul Cab has earned a spot on the Northwest's mantel for best Cabernets. Wine Spectator gave the 2003 vintage 94 points, The 2004 93 points, and the 2005 vintage 95 points.

Caramel-inflected rich, dark cherries, ground cinnamon, and barrel toast usher in a concentrated palate of plush, dark currants, black cherries, and blackberries. Savory notes of vanilla bean, barrel spice, dried sage leaf and mint come together with sappy fruit, fine tannin, and Dubrul Vineyard earthiness on the finish, exuding power. Best to cellar this for another couple years, then drink over the next decade.

Owen Roe Lady Rosa Syrah 07

Totally lush scents of candied violets, sweet blackberries, and bacon fat waft from the glass. Super juicy yet sweet blackberries mingle with hints of clove, anise, and ginseng on the complex finish. The Lady Rosa 07 marries fantastic density of fruit with brightness from the acidity. Remarkable balance for such a big wine--expect it to age gracefully.

The 2007 Owen Roe Lady Rosa Syrah is made from Mike and Karen Sauer's Red Willow Vineyard (67%) and the rest from Outlook Vineyard, farmed by Roger Bates. These small hillside blocks are situated high in the cool western Yakima Valley and yields were kept low to maximize flavor and balance.

Every year, this is the Owen Roe Syrah you want to spend time with, as you witness the layers of flavor unfold in the glass. Cellaring this wine will produce even more enjoyment. This is one of the finest Washington Syrahs produced.

A tiny fraction of 2006 Yakima Red was made, compared to the 2005. Big, ripe, and supple,the 2006 Yakima Red is still structured enough for cellaring. Get some now before it's gone!

The Merlot is from DuBrul Vineyard, while the Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon are from Red Willow Vineyard in the cooler, western end of the Yakima Valley. The Yakima Valley Red Wine is designed to show that a world-class Merlot and Cabernet Franc based Bordeaux blend can be created from a remarkable growing area.

2005 Vintage Wine Spectator 92 Points
The Yakima Valley Red Wine is Owen Roe's signature wine. It speaks to their commitment to produce the best wines from the best grape varieties in each appellation. In this case, the bright berry flavor of the Merlot and fragrant notes of the Cabernet Franc are wonderfully framed with the structure and acidity of the Cabernet Sauvignon. All in all, this is a marvelously complex Bordeaux-styled red blend.

A serious cellar candidate. Tightly wound, with gobs of cherry candy accented by green peppercorns. The flavors glide over a massively textured body, finishing with white pepper and graphite. This will take a few years to come together, as we've seen with the 2004 Slide Mtn.

A lush, showy and ripe wine. Deep aromas of dark berries and cassis, mocha, desert herbs, and barrel spice. An intense core of fruit pleases right now, but there's plenty of structure to go for years.
