Crowley, Evesham Wood, and Westrey look at Oregon Chardonnay as a serious wine, not just a white sipper. They age Chardonnay for 18 months in neutral oak barrels to add richness, texture and weight without muddling the wine into a cocktail of splinters and butterfat.

Each Chardonnay has its own character. All share a graceful style and balanced acidity, with added complexity from old-vine vineyards. They are full-bodied, but not too big, rounded but not overly rich. They evolve and blossom in the glass - one hallmark of great Chardonnay.

28 YEAR OLD VINES

Crowley Wine's 2007 Chardonnay is made from 28-year-old Maresh Vineyard vines. The complex, elegant, and intense 07 Crowley is a standout among Oregon white wines.

 

Step into an orchard, smell the apple blossoms, then take a bite of a perfectly ripe apple and pear and you start to imagine the 07 Crowley. A lemon curd element adds richness, which is backed by citrusy acidity, hints of minerals, and subtle spice. Try it barely chilled to experience the full melange of texture and flavors.

 

Tyson Crowley is the owner/winemaker of this new Oregon winery. We consider him one of Oregon's rising stars. His dedication to barrel-fermented Oregon Chardonnay is apparent in this outstanding wine.

23 YEAR OLD VINES

Evesham's Le Puit Sec estate vineyard was planted in 1986.

 

Russ describes the wine: "This is our lone barrel-fermented Chardonnay each year, being a blend of Dijon clones 76, 95 & 96. The 2007 edition is somewhat counterintuitive in that it is more concentrated than the 2006 rendition, yet still with its characteristic crisp and flinty notes. The basic flavor profile is what one would expect from our estate site, with tones of ripe pear and hazelnut, and a nice texture from long lees contact and 18 months of barrel age. Bottled unfiltered. Only 115 cases produced."

30 YEAR OLD VINES

Amy and David's gifted and gentle skills at unobtrusive winemaking meld with 30 year old vine Chardonnay fruit from their Oracle vineyard to produce a revelation in Oregon Chardonnay.

 

A perfumed nose of subtle white flowers and crisp apple announces this splendid wine. The flavors all fall within a lovely crisp acidity that lifts the wine - there's the winemakers' favorite yellow apple and pear flavors, complex layered notes of allspice and clove, and a hint of vanilla in the rounded finish. As it evolves, the wine shows ever more fullness and weight.

 

A wonderful wine for food, Amy and David's favorite pairing with this wine is halibut cheeks with a cream or mushroom sauce. You can also pair it with pan-seared macademia nut crusted halibut, fettucine alfredo, any creamy pasta dish, scallops, and even foods you'd often consider best with sauvignon blanc, like oysters.

 

This elegant Chardonnay is made from Oracle Vineyard and Justice Vineyard fruit. Barrel fermented, it was aged in 25% new oak to enhance the midpalate, add length, and evoke the terroir of the vineyards.
