Nuthatch Cellars
As small as the bird, and bold as its character.
When you think of the wee Nuthatch, the word "huge" doesn't come to mind. But while the Nuthatch is small, it's a bold bird whose character defies its size.
"Bold" describes Nuthatch Cellars from Corvallis, Oregon, the home of Avalon Wine. This tiny producer, nestled in the middle of Willamette Valley Pinot noir country, makes enormously flavored, small batch reds from Washington and Southern Oregon fruit.
Nuthatch defines hand-crafted. Every wine they make is less than 100 cases, so they labor over each barrel to make sure it's perfect. These reds are hard to find anywhere outside of Corvallis, making Nuthatch a true "insider" winery.

Deep and rich, bright and balanced, the 07 Nuthatch Tempranillo offers showy dark cherries and plums with fine tannins providing backbone. This is much more "Old World" in style than the 2006, and will cellar nicely. - Avalon
A cooler season in southern Oregon brings complexity and rounded, balanced flavors. The wine has an inviting, soft, floral note that combines with raspberry, spicy red currant, and warm vanilla accents. On the palate, red currant and powdered cocoa are framed by chewy tannins in a lingering finish. - The Winery
Tempranillo 87%, Syrah 13%.
Nuthatch
Beaming with classic Tempranillo flavors of dark berries, plums and tobacco, Nuthatch rounds out this wine with a healthy dollup of Syrah. The Syrah softens the Tempranillo, adding rich blackberry and cherry.
75% Tempranillo, 20% Syrah, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Cola, Loganberry, anise, finishing with a yin and yang of sweet vanilla and bitter cocoa. Tons of fruit, beautifully layered, that packs a punch but does it in style. From the amazing 2007 Washington vintage.
100% Syrah from two vineyards: Seven Hills Vineyard 67%, Pepper Bridge Vineyard 33%.
Nuthatch Cellars
Huge! This is burly, muscular blackberry-tinged Walla Walla Syrah, not for the faint of heart. Full bodied,with a backbone of refined tannins, this wine has a long, sustained finish.
This Cab Franc-driven blend sports a melange of fruit - jammy raspberry, currant, and blackberry - with a hint of grape skin, minerals, and baking spices on the finish.
A blend of Cabernet Franc 64%, Cabernet Sauvignon 31%, Syrah 5%.
