2008 Oregon Pinots Shea Vineyard Block 5 - Belle Pente Dundee Hills Carter Vineyard Hillblock - Libra Wines 
As wine marketers, we spend hours (and hours) brainstorming new ways to introduce wines to our customers. Sometimes a clear theme emerges, sometimes you stretch, make up words and go with the esoteric, even the zany. Sometimes we open up a batch of wines and we all start nodding. Then the hoarding of bottles starts. Today's theme: we want to drink these wines! Or put another way, we already did. Our favorite four new Oregon Pinots from the phenomenal 2008 vintage. 
Shea Wine Cellars $48.99 any 12 bottles See all Shea Wine Cellars wines - Opulent and showy, even within the context of Shea Pinots, the Block 5 has an intense, distinctive character of candied violets and sweet wild berries that coast towards the finish on a silky slide. Toasty tannins provide a backdrop for the big fruit to shine. Block 5 is the second-most limited 2008 Shea Pinot (Block 22 being the tiniest production) and the final 2008 release from Shea Wine Cellars. Block 5, on Shea Vineyard's East Hill, used to make up a significant chunk of the Homer bottling. - Marcus

Simply spectacular juice that combines savory and spicy elements into a lively Pinot with the palate sweetness I crave, the black cherry and licorice that makes my mouth water. Libra Wines $17.95 any 12 bottles Bill Hanson is assistant winemaker at Panther Creek Wine Cellars, and has his own winery as well. Libra Wines is named for his wife's astrological sign and inspired by the mythology of Greece. Fresh red berries and cherry aromas dominate this juicy wine. Sweet red fruit flavors (raspberry, cherry, strawberry) are enlivened by a tangy hint of minerals and earth. A little air time evens and mellows this ready to drink Pinot noir. Enticing, expressive aromatics lead to an expansive core of fruit. Round, finessed tannins give the wine an additional level of polish.
