La beteThe winery says:
"
La Bete produces limited quantities of exceptional wines. Historic varietals of Burgundy made in Oregon, adhering to traditions of style and rhythms. Winemaking this way is a beastly challenge, perhaps even foolish!"

La Bete's first wines were released from the 1998 vintage. The winery strives to produce historic varietals of Burgundy, grown in Oregon, adhering to the styles and traditions learned from experience and training in Bourgogne (Burgundy).

Initially the winery has produced an Aligote, Chardonnay (Dijon clone), Pinot Gris (Pinot Beurot), Gamay Noir (jus Blanc) and Pinot Noir. Future production will include limited quantities of Pinot Blanc and Melon de Bourgogne. Total production in 1998 was fewer than 300 cases. Production in 1999 was just under 1000 cases. All La Bete wines are unfiltered.
