Hyatt
Vineyards is a family owned enterprise created by Leland and Lynda Hyatt
of Zillah, Washington.
The winery site is located three miles north of Zillah, in the Yakima
Valley Appellation.
The vines were planted in 1983 with first releases in 1987. Currently,
the vineyards have grown to three sites, consisting of 120 acres. Merlot,
Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Chardonnay, and Riesling are
the varieties grown in our estate vineyards.
Case production is 30,000 year with a emphasis on superior red wines.
Rare ice wine is crafted when conditions allow.
Hyatt Vineyards wines have met with mixed reviews
over the years. In the early 90's, their reds were a great value. Then,
price and some uneven vintages disappointed many. In the last few years,
Hyatt has turned a corner, and is now offering some very good values in
Washington wine. Winemaker Greg Chappell has produced some big, popular
wines. This is a winery poised to enter the spotlight- better grab some
wine now before the big reviews come!

Review of Hyatt's Reserve Merlot
(January 2001) Hyatt Merlot Reserve 97
One of the hidden treasures in Washington's Yakima Valley is Hyatt Vineyards
in Zillah. It has been making good to great wines since 1987.
In recent Wine Press Northwest tastings, Hyatt has earned top scores for
its reserve cabernet sauvignon, black muscat and riesling. The reserve
merlot is another terrific example. It is loaded with fruit, spice and
herb flavors and aromas and has a long, satisfying finish.
Rated "Outstanding" by Wine Press Northwest magazine's tasting
panel.
Food matches: This versatile wine would match well with a number
of dishes, including lamb chops, venison, roast, rich lasagna, hearty
bean soups and stews and a number of cheeses, including Romano, Parmesan
and Cheddar.
