Easy to Love, Hard to Pronounce Oregon Pinot noirs
Coeur de Terre & Et Fille "Elton" 2006 Pinot noir

Et Fille (Eh Fee) and Coeur de Terre (Coor duh Tare) are wineries we love, even though their names don't quite roll off your tongue. Both wineries make instantly compelling Pinots that delight your heart.

"Elton" Pinot noir 06

Et Fille Elton Pinot noir$40.46/$44.95

Gorgeous scents of rose petals and raspberries waft from the glass. The 06 Elton is built around a juicy core of raspberry, wrapped in layers of strawberry, red currant, and cherry that will continue to fatten with time. The finish brings together a cinnamon-laced minerality and delicate touches of toast and lavender. The 06 Elton is a study in elegant power, marrying classic Pinot noir complexity, supple fruit, depth and sctructure. Expect this to age beautifully over the next 8-10 years. It is the most complex and age-worthy of the 06 Et Fille wines.

We've sent each of the 2006 Et Fille vineyard designate wines to our Reserve Pinot Noir Club, and the Elton will be a June club selection. We've loved watching the evolution of Howard's wines over the past years, as he continues to make some of the most compelling Oregon Pinots available. This is the final 2006 Pinot release from Et Fille. 2005 vintage Wine Spectator 93 points

The 2004 and 2005 Coeur de Terre Renelle's Block Pinot were two of Avalon's biggest success stories. Customers love the wine and the value. The 2006 vintage gifts us with two bottlings. Buy the Estate for now and the Renelle's Block for years to come.

Renelle's Block
Reserve Pinot noir 06

$37.76/$41.95

The nose and texture are arresting. Aromas of toasty baking spice, vanilla and dark fruit lead into the caressingly silky body. The 06 Renelle's features a darker fruit profile than many of the 06 Pinots we've tasted recently, with cassis, black raspberry, and black cherry flavors mingling with creamy cocoa and earth, and a light citrus lift on the harmonious finish. Very yummy now, with the goods to cellar.

Winemaker Scott Neal describes the wine: Bright red color with ruby depth. A full toast oak greets the nose, offering vanilla, red raspberry, and dried cherry. In the mouth the richness offers more dried cherry, black cherry, soft dried lavender, light citrus, rose, and pomegranate. The finish lingers with delicate spice bouquet. Wood is present and integrates nicely with the complex aromatics Renelle’s Block offers.

Estate Pinot noir 06

$32.36/$35.95

Fresh blackberry, boysenberry, black currant and violets waft from the glass. Flavors follow - butterscotch, boysenberry, and fresh earth aromas transition into a heap of dark bramble berry flavors and hints of plums. A fleshy, rich texture in the mouth amplifies the fruit flavors. Like the Renelle's Block, the Estate 06 is deliciously silky, adding savory cardamom spice on the finish and fine tannins.
