Oregon Dry Farming The Deep Roots Coalition is a group of like-minded Oregon winery and vineyard owners located in the Willamette Valley. You'll recognize many of your favorite wineries in the list. All are dedicated to growing their vineyards without the use of irrigation and according to organic and biodynamic principles. We think you'll agree with us that the wines show extraordinary and expressive complexity and nuanced flavors. These winemakers have taken the slow, patient (and expensive) route of waiting many more years to harvest grapes than if they had irrigated. They forced the vines to push deep into the soil and the rock under it to find water. Water loaded with the minerals that add the special qualities we love. SEE ALL DEEP ROOTS COALITION

Done in stainless steel, this Chardonnay is all about freshness. Technically a single-vineyard Chardonnay, the Willamette Valley is entirely from Eola Springs Vineyard.
Crowley Chardonnay $21.55 in any 12 bottle order $23.95 retail This is a steal. Fresh cut pineapple, bits of pear, white flowers, minerals, and rich lemon custard note on the lengthy finish. The generous, mouth-filling yummy fruit is balanced, while being a little plumper. In less than a handful of vintages, Tyson Crowley has established himself as one of Oregon's best Chardonnay producers. Made entirely from Maresh Vineyard Chardonnay, a blend of 108 and Dijon clones. - Marcus $14.18 in any 12 bottle order Smooth, creamy and polished, with captivating aromas of honeysuckle and melon. There's just a hint of sweetness balanced by fresh acidity; perfect as a summer quaffer but also a great companion for Asian-inspired cuisine. Deep Roots ROSÉ Jean's Favorites - Stock up for Summer

Evesham Wood $12.55 in any 12 bottle order Catapult yourself into summer. A unique and wonderful Willamette Valley rosé with melon, fresh strawberry, white flowers, and a great citrusy zip to accent the body. If it were only a few degrees warmer, I'd be writing this note from the deck, sipping a glass... - Jean Haden Fig Pinot noir Rosé 2010 $16.16 in any 12 bottle order Only available in the Rosé sampler case Made by the owners of Evesham Wood under their personal label. The fruit is 100% from Illahe Vineyards. Fresh strawberry, citrus, lemon blossom in the nose, in the flavor add hints of slate, minerals, thyme and fig. Long, clean, smooth finish. Sip or serve with salads to barbeque to spicy Tex Mex. - Jean J.K. Carriere "Glass" White Pinot noir Rosé 2010 $18.23 in any 12 bottle order Scents of lemon and lime flowers and a delicious texture herald this exceptional rosé. Vibrant, classic citrus and raspberry are accented by just a hint of the perfume of an alpine white strawberry. Calls for beautiful views, a soft breeze, sunshine, and a summer picnic. Makes for happy memories. - Jean New and Best Value Illahe Vineyards Reserve Pinot noir 08 $32.36 in any 12 bottle order HIGHLY RECOMMENDED A standout at the Deep Roots Coalition tasting, this is gorgeous Pinot. It's one of those OMG (oh my god!) wines. Instantly likeable when you first open the bottle, the balance and flavors are delicious and just get better as the wine opens. The interplay of silky tannins, fresh fruit acids and a rich sweet cherry and berry core say "if you can resist drinking me now, cellar me - I'm special!" Well, maybe. Probably not. Oops, there goes the corkscrew. - Jean
Cameron $22.45 in any 12 bottle order The 2009 vintage is forward and full, and John Paul's Dundee Hills fits right in. Big rich cherry and berry scents with a hint of fresh turned earth, following through with the same big fruit flavors, a smooth, densely textured mouth feel, and smooth tannins. Amazing value from a guy who never advertises, never markets, and sells out to people who drive to the winery and load up the back of their cars. Me included. - Jean $15.25 in any 12 bottle order Quite likely the last vintage of Tempranillo from Evesham Wood, this goes out with a bang. One of the very few Willamette Valley Tempranillos, the 09 shows off red berries and mint with a spine of dusty tannins. Nothing too serious - just a fun, rustic red. A mere 150 cases made. Belle Pente Willamette Valley Pinot noir 09 $17.95 in any 12 bottle order Richly textured red berries sit lushly on your palate, with hints of cocoa, cream, and cherry skin on the finish. Belle Pente Dundee Hills Pinot noir 09 $21.96 in any 12 bottle order The Dundee Hills has a plumper core of fruit, showing bright pie cherries up front with a thread of dark currant that helps usher in the spicy finish of nutmeg, white pepper and fresh earth. While much of the hype from last year's wines focused on the Willamette Valley Pinot, the Dundee Hills gets our vote. - Marcus
